How long have you been with Eden Hall?

19 months.

What position did you start in?

Front Of House Team Member.

Tell us about your career journey with Eden Hall, from where you started to where you are now?

My initial role with Eden Hall was a part-time Front of House Team Member, working purely on the three Evening Escape Shifts every week.  After six months, an internal opportunity arose to become the Membership Experience Executive.  I was really keen to apply for this role, but it was full-time which (then) I could not do.  However, another work colleague and I put forward a proposal to job share the role, which was accepted.  Fast forward another six months and an opportunity arose for Front of House Team Leader.  Applying the same theory to job share, I was successful with my application. It has meant that I am mostly full-time but the hours and days work well together and the same colleague and I now work together on Membership and Front of House.

What’s your favourite thing about working for Eden Hall?

No two days are the same.  Every day can be an opportunity to think on your feet.  It is a great balance between admin work and interacting with the public.

What advice would you give to someone looking to start a career at Eden Hall?

If you come to work at Eden Hall, you have to remember it is hospitality.  You have to enjoy talking to the public, have a genuine desire to make a guest feel totally at home.  There are many different Departments to choose from, but all will come with different shift patterns and weekend work.  Hospitality is not a 9 - 5 life, but it is a rewarding one.

What position did you start in?

Receptionist.

Tell us about your career journey with Eden Hall, from where you started to where you are now?

I started in reception 10 months ago having had a few years away from a desk job, I wasn't incredibly confident about navigating a new system or all of the computer programmes. I was given a lot of training and time and help and I am now fully confident with all of the systems that we use here. I knew the building well but I didn't know many of the team, I now know the majority of the staff and mix with other departments every day, which helps us all work together more efficiently.

What’s your favourite thing about working for Eden Hall?

The people I work with. Not just in reception, within all departments and the members we have here.

What advice would you give to someone looking to start a career at Eden Hall?

Apply for the position! You will get to work in a beautiful building with an amazing team of people with a position that offers job satisfaction.
